Position Overview

A postdoctoral fellowship position is available immediately in the Sheets Lab at the Stark Neurosciences Research Institute, Indiana University School of Medicine (Indianapolis, IN). This NIH HEAL Initiative R01 investigates pain-induced adaptations in medial prefrontal cortex (mPFC) dynorphin circuits and their role in modulating nociception and maladaptive affective behaviors across surgical and neuropathic pain states.

This is part of a multi-PI collaboration with Dr. Hugo Tejeda (@NeuroTejeda, NIMH Intramural Research Program, Bethesda, MD).

Qualifications

• PhD in neuroscience, physiology, or related field (conferred within ~3 years).

• Strong expertise in slice electrophysiology (preferred) or in vivo imaging/optogenetics.

• Experience with mouse models, viral vectors, behavior.

• Record of productivity (1st-author papers); rigor in data analysis/publication.

• Excellent communication; team player for cross-lab collaboration.
